Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training
1 in 5 Americans deals with a mental health challenge.
Yet, while we may know how to recognize and respond to someone having a physical health challenge like a heart attack–perhaps approaching to ask if they’re okay, delivering CPR, or calling 911–can we also recognize and respond to someone having a mental health challenge like a panic attack, depressive symptoms, or substance use crisis?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) delivers culturally sensitive, evidence-based skills training informed by relevant lived experiences of individuals, that teaches how to recognize, understand, and respond to the signs that someone may be having a mental health challenge or crisis. These skills are crucial in helping folks in our lives, communities, and institutions connect with appropriate help and support. Your intervention may aid in survival and sooner recovery from, and help reduce stigma against mental health challenges.
Become a Mental Health First Aider and bring this training to your workplace, community, social groups, and neighbors to help reduce mental health stigma, increase awareness of mental health challenges, and strengthen your community’s mental health supports for healthier, kinder, and safer communities across the US. #BeTheDifference
